The school receives Department for Education funding in the amount of £500 per learner in Year 7 for ‘Catch-up Literacy and Numeracy’ to support interventions at the entry to Key Stage 3.

 

In 2018-2019 the allocated funding for 11 learners was £3,214.

We have adopted this approach from an outstanding special school within the borough of Barking and Dagenham. The evidence of the approach that they have adopted for the last couple of years has shown evidence of an increase in Year 7 pupil making good or better progress in English from 73% in 2015 to 96% in 2018. Similarly, pupils making good or better progress in Maths rose from 52% in 2015 to 96% in 2018.

The impact of this funding is monitored through Pupil Progress meetings and reports to governors.
