The Music Curriculum
In year 7 we work with our voices, followed by West African drumming and finally we learn how to play pop song in a whole class setting. We use ukuleles, guitars, drums and keyboards.
In year 8 we further develop our skills firstly learning about music & war, setting our own words to music. Secondly we work on writing our own song. Finally we work on Samba rhythms.
Y9-11 we follow the Eduqas specification. Follow the link for more information on this specification: http://eduqas.co.uk/qualifications/music/gcse/index.html. This gives students a comprehensive overview of music through the ages and an understanding of how composers made their music. The also get to perform and compose themselves.
We have a drumming club this year and we are working on Grease the musical. Furthermore we are currently partnered with the English National Opera and have many project running. Currently we provide 50 1-2-1 lessons in instruments such as clarinet, trombone, trumpet, piano, singing, guitar and bass.
