OPPORTUNITIES

At Riverside Sixth Form there are lots of excellent opportunities to support you during your time at sixth form and to help you make more informed choices regarding your path for when you eventually leave us.

Widening Participation

During your time in year 12, it is important to explore universities and the courses they have on offer. Riverside Sixth Form helps students apply for the following programmes:

  • University Open Days
  • Taster Days and Weeks at Universities E.g. Queen Mary University Masterclasses
  • Kings College K+ Programme
  • Realising Opportunities Outreach Programme
  • The Sutton Trust Pathways Programmes

 

UCAS

Students are provided with a Unifrog account which enables them to search universities in the UK and abroad. Unifrog also supports the students with personal statement writing and their UCAS application.

Higher Education Week

In July, students are given a whole week of support to help with university choices. During higher education week there are a wide range of activities which take place. These include:

  • UCL Personal Statement Workshop
  • UCAS Fair
  • Amazing Apprenticeships
  • Unifrog Workshop
  • Young Enterprise Interview and CV Workshop

 

Funding

To help students fund their studies there are a range of options available:

Colin Pond Scholarship – This is a scholarship available to the top five highest attaining students at GCSE who continue their studies at A-Level. A £500 scholarship is paid to the students during year 12 and 13.

16+ Bursary – Students who are eligible for free school meals are provided with a bursary each week whilst studying at Riverside Sixth Form. Students with excellent attendance and attitude will also receive payments prior to the Christmas and Easter holidays.

University Funding – Students are encouraged to visit university open days so funding is available for travel to ensure each student can visit their prospective universities.
