I wanted to update you about our agenda for our Growth Summit on the evening of 9th July @ Riverside Campus (from 5.30pm -8pm), following our save the date messages. See the attached document.
Thames Ward 3rd Resident Growth Summit Part 1 Thames Ward 3rd Resident Growth Summit part 2
Our resident steering group have finalised the agenda and we’re really excited to be starting at 1730 pm with musical performances by young people from Year 8 (Erica, Jeremiah and Nathan). We’ll also have artwork on display by Emmanuel Oreyeni who will be showcasing his ‘local heroes’ portraits series.
At 1800 we’ll do an introduction by our Headteacher Andy Roberts, a brief summary of recent work by Thames Ward Community Project, followed by a poetry performance and update from the Young Citizens Action Group on the issues they have been working on, followed by a drama performance and resident testimony on the recent fire on Riverside.
We will then hear from residents about work towards a charter to put communities more in control of local development, outlining priorities and ideas. Followed by some examples of resident work already under way as part of local action groups covering art, environment, skills and health and how people can add support and get involved.
We have invited a range of speakers and guests including Lord Kerslake, chair of BeFirst, Graeme Cooke, Director of Inclusive Growth (LBBD), Councillor Cameron Geddes, Margaret Hodge MP and colleagues from Barking Riverside Limited. They will be making brief presentations and responding to previous presentations.
We aim to finish around 7.30 and then allow further networking with table discussion for those who want to find out more about the action groups. We really hope you’ll be able to attend and look forward to seeing you next Tuesday the 9th July at 5.30pm.
Best Wishes,
Matt Scott
Director of Community Engagement, Thames Ward Community Project
