Twelve students from year 9 have been taking part in the Scholars Programme since January. They went to New College (University of Oxford) to participate in an educational trip called Brilliant Club. At the trip they were guided around and shown different parts of the college and they were, on several occasions, given the opportunity to ask questions. Additionally, the students were provided with food and as they left the college they received a booklet which would help them later on when carrying on with the programme.
The students enjoyed their peregrinate across the building and they were treated with respect and value by the students and the people who were in charge of brilliant club. The students felt engaged in the topics and were given the chance to share and voice their opinions. The Brilliant Club is committed to the rigorous evaluation of its programmes. They have a dedicated team of social scientists who ensure that their work is informed by the latest research and delivers impact for their students which is impressive as well as considerate.
During the lessons that took place for an hour every Friday (the girls and boys did the sessions separately) they learnt numerous things however royal progresses were the main focus of our sessions as that was what their final assessment was going to be based on. The sessions were interactive and were inclusive of everyone and was very interesting.
