Year 9 GCSE drama students have recently been studying ‘Theatre in Education’ and how theatre can be used to educate an audience with a moral message. The students chose to perform their piece to Year 6 students at Thames View Junior School and their moral message was ‘The dangers of getting involved with gangs’.
The aim of the project was to prepare the students for Component 2 of AQAGCSE Drama where they will have to devise and perform a performance on a theme of their choice. The audience were fantastic and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the performance with some audience participation. They found the performance humorous and gave some useful feedback at the end. Due to some absences within the group, two of Year 9 media students very kindly stood in for the missing members. They did a fantastic job, completely committed to the performance and it was greatly appreciated.
