On Wednesday 7th December 20 students from Year 8 and 5 students from Year 9 were invited to attend a Drama trip to University of East London, in Stratford. The group were given an insight to life as a University Student and a tour of the campus. The group spent the afternoon with some first year University students who shared their experience of starting University and what helped them to decide on the right course for them. In addition, the University provided a Drama workshop for the group, focusing on who they are as a person, how they might express it and to celebrate individuality. The pupils then started to consider how they might use that on a stage.
On their pupil feedback forms one pupils said: “My experience at UEL was amazing”. When asked what particularly did they enjoy, another pupil said: “I enjoyed watching everyone show body expressions because they had the confidence to stand up and do it”
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all; staff and pupils. The University contacted the school the following day to commend the students on their exceptional behaviour; and said “what great students you have”. They have asked if they could work with the school again which certainly reflects positively on all students who attended.
