Riverside School’s Year 10 students recently spent two weeks on work experience. The variety of placements was extensive with certain students working at large enterprises such as Royal Mail, Superdrug and London Underground whilst others gained hands-on knowledge of jobs in the local area at a range of schools, businesses and community organisations. Two students, Dian and Karina, were fortunate enough to work alongside leading university fellows at Imperial College London’s Department of Life Sciences and at the School of Law at the University of East London respectively. Feedback from employers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many remarking on the diligence, courtesy and pragmatism of our students. Likewise, feedback from students has been positive. They told us that they learnt valuable and transferable new skills and garnered a true appreciation of professional working life.
Special mention must go to Jihan whose successful placement with Jon Cruddas MP resulted in him writing a personal letter of thanks to the Headteacher, stating how impressed he was with her attitude, focus and professionalism at such a young age.
Well done to all of Year 10!
