On Monday 7th November, Mohamed Kamran and guests from the Barking Mosque were invited to speak to the year 7s who have just begun a civics topic on Islam and Christianity. The visitors spoke to the students about day to day life as a Muslim as well as the religious ideas behind their beliefs, with students invited to ask questions at the end. Year 7 were excellent and asked a variety of well thought out questions which enriched their understanding of the religion and allowed them to come back into lessons to further discuss these ideas with their teachers. The year 7s were so impressive they have been invited to visit the Mosque as a school trip.
The following Monday, Emmanuel Badu from Gideon’s International visited the school to speak to year 7 about Christianity. Mr Badu explained the reasons for Gideon’s International and the thought and ideas behind his own religious beliefs. The year 7s were once again amazingly respectful and asked fantastic questions of the visitor. Mr Badu has in fact already booked to come back next year to speak to the next cohort of year 7s!
