During the trip to The University of Oxford the students were able to combine their ability to think in three dimension and apply this knowledge to molecules in chemistry. Riverside students were able to participate in a Chemistry session in which students deliberated a question that the Oxford professors usually use in interview situations. The second artistic session focused on perspective. Students listened to a presentation about perspective in Art, and its development across time. Students considered linear perspective and then were able to go outside and use a ‘camera obscura’. Students came away from this session with drawings of the University building, free hand and using the ‘camera obscura’ and this provoked a lively debate regarding the use of this type of equipment when creating Art. A highly successful trip enjoyed by all.
