On February 24th, some of Riverside’s most talented athletes in year 7 and 8 tackled the Essex Cross Country Championships, held at Stubbers Adventure Centre. The year 7 girls ran 2500m, the year 7 boys and year 8 girls ran 3000m and the year 8 boys ran 3500m. Riverside were the only school in the borough which entered this competition and they didn’t let Barking and Dagenham down. Throughout the day over 800 runners participated in the various races and against some very tough competition our pupils competed well. Our top year 7 boy was Tyresse Bale, top year 7 girl was Toyin, top year 8 boy was Francis Mampolo and the top year 8 girl was Rejoice. All of the students should be extremely happy with their results. We now look forward to Borough Athletics in the summer.
