The winter term has been a busy term for all of the athletes at Riverside School. There have been numerous competitions across a range of different sports and age groups. The year 8 boys football team cruised to an early season win which sees them through to the next round of the cup. The year 10 girls turned up to the borough basketball tournament as underdogs and came out in a very impressive second place just falling short to National Champions Barking Abbey. The borough cross country saw some very impressive performances from our young athletes, especially from Daniel Obi who finished as the top year 8 runner. The year 10 girls finished in 3rd place at the borough handball tournament with the year 7/8 girls finishing in 4th place. Riverside girls also took part in the football league cup competition and put in some very strong performances against much older and tougher opposition. The year 8 boys shone during the borough indoor athletics where they finished just 1 point off 3rd place.
As well as taking on many other schools in competitions, the school inter house competition is up and running again. The first competition of the year was dodgeball. This saw over 100 pupils participate for their house. Dunlin are the current leaders of inter house but it is extremely close. Every point really does count!!
We look forward to much more success as the year goes on.
