On October the 14th Riverside School marked black history month by dancing. Nii Taagoe and Nii Boye from the Zamble African Dance company came armed with a djembe drum and lots of infectious positivity to spend a whole day with the year 7 classes. The day culminated in a dance off in period 5 where each class showcased their routine. The two Ghanaian men took the students through their paces and finally, as a surprise, turned the tables on the teachers allowing them to show their skills on the dance floor, much to the amusement of the students.
A brilliant day that showcased the vibrant music and dance culture from West Africa which will lead into the year 7 drumming module in the spring in Music.
