Riverside year 9 students and Pragya in year 8 attended the National SSAT maths and English Conferences, not as delegates but as participants. Mr Wylde taught a ‘live maths lesson’ and Ms Bellamy a ‘live English lesson’ to the 16 students during conference for delegates to observe our students and analyse their exemplary learning skills.
The conference organiser and Head of Teaching and Learning for SSAT , Anne-Marie Duguid said:
Can I just say a big thank you for all of your hard work with the lesson study. The evaluations for these sessions were fantastic and your students were an absolute credit to you and your school. The way that they coped within a new and strange setting, being observed by complete strangers then able to confidently articulate their problem solving strategies was incredible. It was certainly the highlight of the day for me and many of the teachers, especially watching the excitement of one of the boys who was just jumping in his seat and waving his arms around when he thought he had solved it! They certainly owned their learning.
