On Wednesday 22nd April the Year 9 Girls participated in the London Finals of the National Handball Tournament. Reaching the London Finals was a huge achievement as they were participating in the U15 age group for which many schools entered their year 10 teams. The girls came up against some tough opposition but represented the school exceptionally well. The day started with a round robin tournament in which they played 4 games. They picked up 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss finishing second in the group which was good enough to play in the semi-finals. The girls convincingly won the semi-final 3-1 with some excellent team play and it was easily the game of the tournament and it saw them through to the final. In the final they came up against Holy Cross School from Kingston who they previously lost to in the round robin so the girls knew that this would be a tough game. It was an extremely close game throughout with the lead changing on several occasions. Unfortunately for the girls they ran out 4-3 runners up. All of the girls should be extremely proud of their achievements and I am sure they will be back and ready to win the tournament next year.
