National Portrait Gallery – Meet the artist Olivia Rose
As part of their Portraits in Photography coursework the year 10 students had the amazing opportunity to go along to the National Portrait Gallery to meet award winning photographer and director Olivia Rose.
Olivia has worked with some of the foremost contemporary UK musicians and in 2016 she published the critically acclaimed book This Is Grime.
Olivia Rose’s photographic subjects include singer and performer Jorja Smith, rappers Stormzy and D Double E and radio presenter Julie Adenuga. The students were able to see all four of these portraits in person in the display that they visited whilst at the Gallery.
They listened to Olivia’s story of how she got into photography, her influences and techniques that she uses, giving them an insight into photography in the real world and inspiring their coursework project. They were then able to take part in a conversation with the Artist, answering their questions about her influences, background and techniques she uses.
