On Friday 12th December, 43 of Riverside School’s finest sports leaders attended the Barking and Dagenham Winter Games. At the event our pupils worked with around 220 primary school pupils from 5 different primary schools, including George Carey. Throughout the day our pupils took on numerous different roles, including, team leaders, mentors, coaches and scorers. The football, handball and dodgeball sessions were led expertly by our year 8 and 9 pupils. The other sports were led by local sports teams and coaches and these sports included, fencing, basketball, street dance, athletics and boccia. The main role for our pupils was to ensure that all of the primary school pupils were having fun and getting stuck in. The enthusiasm of the Riverside pupils ensured that everyone had a fantastic day. The main prize on offer was the ‘Team Spirit’ Cup. The winners of this cup didn’t stop chanting and cheering all day long and this was hugely down to their team leaders for the day and it was clear that they had really inspired them on this day!!! Well done to everyone that took place.
