On Sunday 30th November, Riverside pupils were lucky enough to attend a professional basketball game at the Copper Box in the Olympic Park. The game was between the home team London Lions and one of the big forces of the league, Leicester Riders. Before the game started the pupils took every opportunity to high 5 all the players that came near them as well as the cheerleaders! Despite a shaky start from London they pulled it back quickly which made for an extremely exciting game with London running out 89-75 winners behind an excellent performance from Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan. The noise that the pupils made cheering on London led to a shout out from the commentator on two occasions!! Unfortunately the dance camera never came on to the year 7 boys as their dance moves were enough to win any competition!!! The day was rounded off by having the opportunity to meet and have a photo with the league’s most valuable player from last season, Zaire Taylor.
